Prime time - the part of the evening that attracts the most viewers - starts and ends later than before: it is now common for a short programme to follow the news at 8:30 p.m. and for the evening programme to begin at 9 p.m. and end around 11 p.m.
The new table of hourly coefficients has been established to take these changes into account. It applies to broadcasts from January 1, 2022 and concerns the six so-called "historical," non-encrypted television channels (TF1, France 2, France 3, France 5, Arte et M6).
An hourly coefficient of 2 will be applied from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., it will move up to 4 between 8:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., and back down to 2 again between 11:00 p.m. and midnight.
"HISTORICAL", NON-ENCRYPTED CHANNELS
From Monday to Saturday
Sundays and public holidays
Coefficient 4 continues to apply after 11 p.m. for Christmas and New Year's Eve shows.
