New method of calculation.
All of Arte's first semester broadcasts will be distributed on 6 January 2020 in the same way as those of the other so-called "historic" television channels (TF1, France2, France 3, France 5, Canal + and M6), i.e., by applying genres and time coefficients.
Up to now, only broadcasts from 7 pm to 3 am were distributed in the same way as these channels. The broadcasts between 3 am and 7 pm were paid in July under the Câble France family, the quality of the programmes not allowing the distribution twice a year, nor the application of coefficients.
From now on, however, the 24 hours of daily broadcasts will be paid every six months, and with the application of these coefficients.
This new method of calculation will eliminate the great disparity of rights that existed between the broadcasts paid with and without coefficients. Audio-visual works broadcast during the day received a very small amount of royalties, compared to what they would have received had they been broadcast in the evening. This new measure will rebalance the value of each minute of broadcasting.
