The distribution scale for television directors has been modified, and the new coefficient table will be implemented for the distribution of 6 January 2020.
This change, decided by the Sacem Board of Directors, aims to add value to the work of authors-directors, and to simplify the processing of broadcast data.
The nomenclature of each category has been revised to correspond better to the current audio-visual landscape, a new coefficient has been created for video clips, and definitions of certain categories have been modified in order to improve the valuation of productions.
The new coefficient grid is as follows:
Category A - Unitary works, concert recordings, works of a collection, and sketches and/or sound sequences that have been the subject of the total involvement, singular treatment and specific imaging by the Author-Director: coefficient 2
Category B - Video clips: coefficient 1.25
Category C - Unitary works and/or concert recordings that have been the subject of the treatment and imaging by the author-director, showing his or her command of the component parts making up the creation. Sketches or scripted sequences that required a partial involvement of the author-director: coefficient 0.75
Category D - Any works for which the involvement of the director was limited due to time and technical constraints imposed by the production: coefficient 0.30
Category E - Any works for which the involvement of the author-director was at the same time reduced, limited, mechanical and partial due to the structure and the limiting means of the production and/or the repetitive character of the same: coefficient 0.08
